Jun ?Hercules? Doliguez of Sarangani Province, the lone Pinoy fighter in the Tim Bradley-Juan Manuel Marquez card in Las Vegas, wins via an impressive 6th round TKO over Giovanni Caro of Mexico.
Doliguez overpowered and outpunched his Mexican opponent in the scheduled 6 round bout and then finally stopped him in the closing seconds of the final round.
The young 22 year-old Filipino prospect out of the Save By The Bell Stable of Batangas, showed his power all throughout the fight, landing overwhelming head shots, courtesy mostly of his left hand, against a game Caro. Doliguez outworked his opponent in the first 5 rounds, bloodying him in the process.
Caro would fight his foe bravely, exchanging with Doliguez even when he is in trouble but a powerful left finally sent him in the canvas in the 6th. The Mexican got up but another left by Doliguez in the last seven seconds of the fight ended his misery for the night.
Referee Vic Drakulich did not need to call another count and halted the fight at the 2:53 mark of the bout.
This is Doliguez?s first fight in the United States. He fought less than two months ago in Mexico where he drew against another Mexican fighter, Ruben Tamayo last July 20 in Merida.
