Four Cebu City Olympics preliminary bouts will be contested on Sunday, October 16 at the newly renovated and iconic Plaza Independencia. Opening up the event will be Jun Gabriel Besinga of Banilad (Unit-7) vs. Dominic Castanares of Bacayan (Unit-8) and Jeremy Entolye of Barrio Luz (Unit-6) vs. Maclee Gaputan of Banilad (Unit-7) in 32 kgs. elementary division, Arnel Enriquez of Mabolo (Unit-8) vs. Junille Olivarez of UC in 38 kgs. secondary division and JayJay Antipala of ANS (Unit-9) vs. Jemboy Hillongo of ANS (Unit-9) in 49 kgs. youth boys division. Gold medal winners get a chance to represent Team Cebu City in the upcoming Batang Pinoy Visayas area leg this coming November in Dumaguete City. Last held in 2004, Philippine Sports Commission re-launched Batang Pinoy 2011, a national sports competition featuring 15 different disciplines for children aged 13 to 15 years old, to discover potential athletes for the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in China. Others are slated to box in the semi-finals on Monday, October 17 and on Tuesday, October 18 for the finals.

Cruz boxing club (46 kgs.), Reynaldo Bongo of Narita Sanai boxing club vs. Walter Semblante of Phil-Aust boxing club (48 kgs.), Allan Refuela of SWU vs. Jayvon Hondos of RWS (52 kgs.) and Ian Refuela of SWU vs. Michael Durano of Phil-Aust boxing club.
