Manila---Filipino pool master Jonas Magpantay moved on to the quarterfinals after defeating compatriot Oliver Villafuerte, 10-8, at the 2026 Indonesia International Open Friday night, July 3, 2026.
Magpantay, a resident of Barangay Kaunlaran, Cubao, Quezon City, earlier beat Lo Ho Sum of Hongkong (10-6) in the Round-of-64 and Robbie Capito of Hongkong (10-3) in the Round-of-32.
Magpantay is looking to duplicate his strong first place finish in the Universal Open held in Jakarta, Indonesia recently, his first World Nine Ball Tour (WNT) title.
The Bansud, Oriental Mindoro native Magpantay won the World Cup WPA World 10-ball Champion last November in Doha, Qatar.
Magpantay is looking for a spot in Stage 2 of the Asian Pool Championship in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam scheduled on July 10-15.
Magpantay already asked the help of the Philippine Sports Commission as well the newly formed National League For Billiards Sports of the Philippines headed by its president Atty. Wharton Chan to endorse him to play in the STAGE 2 of Asian Pool.
