Jeffrey Ignacio clinched the Taom Arena Open title with a dominant 13-1 victory over Sean Mark Malayan in an all-Filipino final held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, last Monday, May 18, 2026.
Ignacio takes home the USD 10,000 champion’s purse, while Malayan earned USD 4,500 for finishing as runner-up in this World Nineball Tour (WNT) event organized by Matchroom Sports.
Earlier in the semifinals, Ignacio defeated Liu Ri Teng of Taiwan, 11-7, to advance to the championship round. He was joined in the final by Malayan, who had beaten Irsal Nasution of Indonesia, 11-5, in the other final four matchup.
Along his title run, Ignacio also overcame fellow Filipino John Vincent Vicedo, 9-3, in the Last 32; Lo Ho Sum of Hong Kong, 10-6, in the Last 16; and Ponco Manurung of Indonesia, 10-3, in the quarterfinals.-Marlon Bernardino -
