FM Jony Habla won over Vladimir Gonzales while Electrical Engr. Jose Oyen Madriaga beat NM Glennen Artuz to get the 2-1 win for the Institute of Integrated Electrical Engineers – Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers Quezon City Sima’s Tribe (IIEE-PSME QC) against Arriba Iriga Oragons for the Armageddon battle that is required due to 10.5-10.5 standoff during the match last May 2, 2026 in the on-going All-Filipino conference of the Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP).
IIEE-PSME QC bowed down to Cavite Spartan 10-11 despite 2 wins each from WNM Rusela Joya-Magsino, Senior player Leonardo Navarro and Homegrown Kristian Paulo Cristobal. The IIEE QC will try to get back vs Cavite teams (3 teams from General Trias Chess Club of coach Ederwin Estavillo), to be led by the reigning champion IIEE Metro Central Randy Turreda, Ronald Donasco and Evaristo Tizon. The IIEE Iriga-Rinconada chapter will also participate in the 10-team battle (9 rounds single round robin) together with IIEE chapter teams from Cavite, Laguna and Batangas on May 8, 2026, 1pm at Eagle Ridge Golf Country Club, General Trias Cavite.-Marlon Bernardino -
