Dacullo Edges Cometa in Thriller, Remains GAB Philippine Youth Minimum weight Champion

It was a split-decision nail-biter.

In an electrifying eight-round title clash, Boholano prospect Sherwin Dacullo (6-1-1, 2 KOs) outlasted Sanman standout Jerome Cometa (4-1, 1 KO) on Sunday, April 26, at the cozy Villa Kristen Resort and Hotel in General Santos City.

With the razor-thin victory, Dacullo successfully defended his GAB Philippine Youth Minimumweight Title — the coveted belt that he captured last November in Tagbilaran by decisioning fellow Boholano Freshler Utrera (4-1, 2 KOs).

Discipline and focus are paying dividends. Dacullo’s win keeps him — and his brother Joebert Dacullo (5-1-1, 2 KOs) — making awesome waves in the red-hot 105-pound division.

The fighting Dacullo brothers train under the seasoned eye of respected Cebuano coach Brix Flores, a medalist at the 1986 Asian Games in Seoul.

They’re co-managed by Los Angeles-based Fil-Am manager Jose “Monty” Flores and Cubao’s man of boxing, Robert Catumbang.

The Dacullos JMF stablemates, Kevin Sumalinog (7-0, 3 KOs) and Khyl Sumalinog (1-0, 1 KO), are happily cheering Sherwin’s fantastic win.

Congratulations to “And Still” 🇵🇭GAB Youth Champion Sherwin Dacullo. Keep up the great work!
