Into fights for IBA championship on April 24

JERALD "Truman" Into of Zamboanga del Sur is now in Ufa, Russia to fight for the International Boxing Association (IBA) super lightweight championship against Russian Khariton Agrba on April 24.

The 26-year-old Into stopped Ernie Sanchez of General Santos City in the 3rd round last February 9 in Gensan.

Into [14-1-0, 11KOs] had three bouts early last year.

Into first scored a unanimous decision against Ahmad Muhammad Jones of USA for the WBC Grand Prix super lightweight Round of 32 last April 18 in Riyadh.

But in his Round of 16, Into lost by a unanimous decision to Sanatali Toltayey of Kazakhstan last June 20 in Riyadh.

Into was down in round 1 while Toltayev was deducted one point in round 4 for rabbit punching.

Into bounced back on August 31 by stopping Alvin Lagumbay of Bukidnon in the 1st round in Gensan.

Agrba [17-1-0, 9KOs], on the other hand, outclassed Ruben Nestor Neri Munoz by a unanimous decision last December 12 in Dubai.

The IBA has launched IBA Pro, a professional boxing platform with its inaugural event held in Moscow.

It is designed to help amateur boxers transition into professional careers.

IBA Pro had promoted fourteen events across multiple countries by early 2026, including a broadcast partnership with DAZN.

It is a roadmap for the organisation's "golden era", which would include a further focus on helping amateur boxers transition to professional competition, and expanding fan interaction.
