LIGHTWEIGHT Roger “Assassin” Ocum of Kidapawan City will fight undefeated Ronerick “Jackhammer” Ballesteros of Manila on January 26 for the WBC Asian lightweight title at the Arenas Civic Center in Malasiqui, Pangasinan.
“It's okay, I am guided and taught by my good Coach Nonoy,” said the 23-year-old Ocum.
He is trained by international coach Raides “Nonoy” Neri with assistant coach Rodel Neri at the MP Davao Gym in Toril.
“I'm ready and I'll do my best to give him a good fight,” said Ocum.
Ocum [6-1-0, 4KOs] last beat Alven Vergara of General Santos City by a unanimous decision last February 9 in Kidapawan City.
Ballesteros [6-0-1, 5KOs], on the other hand, downed Speedy Boy Acope in the 5th round to win the vacant Philippine Youth lightweight title last October 29 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
“My opponent is strong, but we eat the same thing, I just make myself the best,” added Ocum.
The fight, billed as “Punitian sa Malasiqui” is promoted by Art Monis of Hardstone Monis Boxing Gym.
