Jonas Ruga Magpantay, the last Filipino standing , defeated Moritz Neuhausen of Germany, a two-time Junior World 9-ball title holder, with a score of 11-6 to book his place in the Qatar World Cup 10-Ball Finals at the Ezdan Palace in Doha, Qatar on Sunday.
The Barangay Kaunlaran, Cubao, Quezon City resident Magpantay, in his first appearance in Qatar, raced to a 6-1 commanding lead and never looked back.
Earlier, Magpantay toppled two-time European Pool Champion Wojciech Szewczyk of Poland, 11-5, in the quarerfinal round.
Magpantay will now await the winner of the Szymon Kural of Poland vs Naoyuko Oi of Japan semifinal.
The champion will get the lion’s share of US$100,000 while the runner-up will bring home US$40,000.-Marlon Bernardino-
