Amparo loses by KO

JAKE ``El Bambino'' Amparo of Bohol lost to reigning IBF World minimumweight champion Ginjiro Shiegeoka of Japan by knockout in the 2nd round tonight, March 31, at the International Conference Hall in Nagoya.

The 26-year-old Amparo was first hit by a right straight before a left uppercut that proved a solid one as he had to kneel down.

Amparo, who was accompanied by Coach Edito Ala Villamor, never recovered from it as Shiegeoka was declared the winner by referee Charlie Fitch.

Amparo, who is ranked no. 6 by the IBF, now has six loses with 14 wins and one draw while Shiegeoka improved his record to 11 straight wins with nine knockouts.

Meanwhile, Riku Kunimoto scored a 6th round technical knockout against Eiki Kani to retain his WBO Asia Pacific and Japan Boxing Commission middleweight titles in the undercard.
